All the signs are good as The Carrs wins a prestigious award and becomes a focal point for local nature conservancy in action.
In recognition of the excellent work done by all the volunteer members of the Gatley Carrs Conservation Group we were once more awarded the prestigious Green Flag award after passing an independent inspection, as per their citation below.
“On behalf of the Green Flag Award and the Department for Communities and Local Government, I am delighted to reveal that the following park or green space has been judged to meet the standard required to receive the Green Flag Community Award 2014/2015”
To keep this a community event the award was presented to our Chairman by David Edge the retiring Postmaster from Gatley post office.
We have also now paid for the installation of new Nature Reserve road signs in the village so the Carrs can be found and enjoyed by more people.
We re-launched awareness of the Carrs at Gatley Festival and attracted over 50 new members, many of whom said “We didn’t know it existed”, well we are working hard to make sure everyone does now with our new website;
We have held a Teddy Bears picnic and have a kids Halloween evening coming up on 25th October from 3.30pm.We have linked up with Gatley primary for a nature talk and then a guided walk involving over 60 children. This green space is to be treasured and preserved for all the community to enjoy.
Help is always needed so join us and enjoy the fact that we are preserving;
Nature on your doorstep.
